DocuWunder Get the app
For your self-hosted Paperless-ngx

Your documents.
Minus the tech stress.

The mail never stops. DocuWunder turns it into an archive that belongs to you: captured with your camera, found again in seconds, without ever wading through admin screens – and everything stays on your server.

Requires a Paperless-ngx archive (tested with version 3.0) – on your server, your NAS or your Raspberry Pi.

Four good ways into Paperless-ngx. One of them doesn’t feel like work.

We’ll be honest about what the alternatives do well – and why we built DocuWunder anyway: for everyday life between the mailbox and the end of the day.

The official web interface

Does everything. Shows everything. All the time.

The admin tool of Paperless-ngx: brilliant for administration, exhausting after a long day. DocuWunder puts your everyday tasks up front – the engine room is still there under More.

Cloud document services

Convenient – on someone else’s servers.

Contracts, tax notices, medical letters. With DocuWunder your device talks directly to your server – we couldn’t look at your data even if we wanted to.

Native single-platform apps

Great on the phone. And at your desk?

Swift Paperless and Paperless Mobile are good clients – but it’s a separate app for each platform, and they cover less than the web interface. DocuWunder brings nearly the full feature set, just tidier – on phone, tablet and desktop.

Beautiful alternative systems

Papra looks great – but it means moving house.

Minimal systems like Papra replace your archive instead of using it. DocuWunder builds on the Paperless-ngx you already run – nothing moves, nothing is maintained twice.

Honestly: for administration, the web interface is still great. DocuWunder replaces the everyday, not the engine room – both work on the same archive.

Who we build for

DocuWunder isn’t for everyone. It’s for people who want to keep their documents to themselves – and for everyone who lives with them.

01

You self-host

Your Paperless-ngx runs on a NAS or a Raspberry Pi. You want an app that feels like time off – not like server maintenance.

02

Your household joins in

Partner, flatmates, parents: everyone files letters and finds them again – without ever touching an admin screen.

03

You want control, not the cloud

Contracts, tax notices and medical letters belong to you. You want the comfort of a modern app without a provider reading along.

Honestly

Not for you yet?

For everyday use you need your own Paperless-ngx – we don’t provide a server for your documents. You can still take a look: the app includes a demo with made-up sample documents. The Paperless-ngx community explains best how to set up an archive.

From paper pile to archive – in a minute

Scanning that thinks ahead

The camera finds the edges of the page on its own and straightens the perspective. Several pages become one document – crop, rotate and reorder afterwards without any step breaking another.

The inbox collects what needs doing

New documents and anything assigned to you wait in one place. Check the details, add tags, file it – and anyone in your household who files something for you simply assigns it to you.

Find instead of search

Search titles, correspondents and the recognized text of every page. Matches are highlighted, views can be saved – and your folders stay just the way you know them.

Clear, not technical

Everyday tasks up front, admin tools one tap further – “archive” instead of “instance”, “details” instead of “metadata”. And when something goes wrong, the app tells you what happened and what helps now.

Four areas, one tap away

Overview, Documents, Inbox, More – the same tab bar wherever you are.

The overview only shows what needs doing
List, tiles or folders – your choice
Review, assign, file – done
Matches highlighted in the recognized text

At your desk, it becomes a power tool

Public version in progress

From a window width of 900 px DocuWunder goes multi-column: list on the left, document on the right, keyboard for everything.

Command palette. Documents, actions and places – one field for everything.
Keyboard first. Search, browse, open and tag – without touching the mouse.
Batches, not single items. Multi-select and bulk actions for whole stacks.

Dark, if you like

Light, dark or following the system – colored right into the system bars. On mint, text switches to navy instead of white so everything stays legible: every color pair is measured against WCAG AA.
